otakuthon 2008: saturday convention report I got dressed as vampire!Subaru from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and waited for Hamano Ayumi to pick me up. At around a quarter to nine, she finally arrived. We went to go pick up Natasmai and Edward, and then we were on our way to the convention center. Luckily, Ayu, Nat, and I had pre-registered, so we didn't have to suffer through that long registration line. Unfortunately, Edward wasn't so luck. Nat decided to stay with him, while I went with Ayu to help set up at MUSEbasement. Muse had yet to show up when we got there, so we dumped our stuff with Yue, talked for a bit, and then went back out into the hallway just to walk around. About ten minutes before the Exhibition hall opened, Muse started showing up. We dumped our stuff there, and went to see if Nat and Edward had got his registration badge. Once they had, the four of us and Yue went off to the Shounen-ai in CLAMP panel. We kind of got lost trying to direct ourselves, so we only ended up catching the last half of it. I was extremely amused at the panelist's reaction as we walked into the room. Her face lit up and fangirled the fact that Ayu and I were cosplaying Kamui x Subaru. XD The panel itself was fairly amusing, and once it was done, the hostess wanted us to come to the front so she could get a picture with us. Some time around then, Amy showed up! She was our Tokyo Revelations Sakura. We all went back to the Dealer's Room, and we all did some shopping. I was so happy to have found Code Geass merchandise. I ended up buying 2 Code Geass chibi talking figures, 1 Gundam 00 chibi talking figure, a C.C. cellphone strap, and a tote bag. I also got an Allen Walker print from one of the artists. Ayu wanted to stay at the MUSEbasement table and take commissions, so Nat and I went to see the 404s. They were amusing, but it wasn't the best show of theirs that I've seen. About 10 minutes before it ended, the two of us went to go fetch Ayu, as the CLAMP photoshoot was going to start! Ayu was soooo not ready when we went to get her, so it took us a while before we actually headed off to it. On our way down, I stupidly let my cape down and Ayu ended up stepping on it and my cape chain ripped off. Thank the heavens I had the foresight to bring my gluegun that day. >.> About 10-15 minutes later, my cape was fixed. Unfortunately, most of the other CLAMP cosplayers had already left. I was kind of dissapointed, as I'm used to gatherings lasting a while. People usually just stick around and chat for a while, which I find a lot more fun. )= I did manage to get a few photos of the remaining cosplayers. We met an awesome Fai who fangirled us. It was quite amusing. XD Lunch was the next thing on our list of things to do, as it was past two o'clock, and we were all starving. A bunch of us ended up going to a bun place for a quick fix. I went straight back to the convention center, while the others had wanted to go and get bubble tea. I got back to Artist Alley, and sat down to eat with Ayu and Nat. I ended up staying there for the next few hours making buttons for Muse. It was actually a lot of fun. XD Artist Alley shut at six. Before heading off to supper, we wanted to get some pictures of all our costumes. After that, We all ended up going to L2 for bubble tea and supper. They took forever to serve us. Amy and Yue had to leave almost right away because they were late for the yaoi panel, whereas Ayu, Nat, Edward and I stayed a bit longer. When it started getting dark out, we all decided to leave. We sat down at one of the tables at the convention center when we got back. Ayu and Nat worked on the commissions they had built up, while Edward and I just relaxed a bit. The last thing on our list for the day was to see the 404s Late Night Show. They were hilarious, and it totally made up for my dissapointment that afternoon. I just really wish we could have stayed to see their last game which involved mousetraps, blindfolds, and bare feet. Go back to Otakuthon Home. |
